Loka Humana is a new humanitarian theater organization with a mission to
bring joy and laughter, empowerment and opportunity to disadvantaged
populations around the world.
PAST PROJECTS
October–December 2008:
clown and physical theater workshops for children and young adults in Thailand and Cambodia (victims of
trafficking, street children, and youth at risk in areas of extreme poverty in association
with Circus Action International, Clowns Without Borders and Bond Street Theatre.
January–February 2010:
clown performances and workshops to survivors of earthquake in Sumatra and Indonesia
and to youth at risk in the slums of Jakarta in association with Hidung Merah Circus
and Clowns Without Borders.
May 2010:
travel to Myanmar (Burma) as U.S. Cultural Envoy, to do theater workshops with Burmese artists
and present comedic performance for children at monasteries, a Bond Street Theatre project.
September 2010:
clown, circus and theater training for community leaders in Haiti as well as performances
and workshops with children, a Clowns Without Borders project.
February–March 2011:
performances and workshops in camp communities in Port-au-Prince, Haiti,
in partnership with Kofaviv and Favilek, two Haitian-run women's organizations.
April-May 2011:
Physical theater workshops and play development on domestic violence theme with Afghan theater group,
as part of Bond Street Theatre's Theatre for Social Development program.

CURRENT & UPCOMING PROJECTS
Ongoing collaboration with the Haitian women's group FAVILEK (Women Victims Get Up Stand Up)
as part of the Bond Street Theatre team to create and tour a performance about gender violence
and women's rights.
